Rheumatology Secrets 5th Edition

Newton’s words are often cited in the context of mentor – mentee relationships, and indeed, they have rung true in my own career. Influential mentors, perhaps most importantly my co-editor Dr. Sterling West, have enriched my career and opened countless doors of opportunity. In a similar fashion, this fifth edition of Rheumatology Secrets was also built on the shoulders of prior contributors, researchers, and clinicians. Updates on the evaluation and management of rheumatic disease have been included, as well as “evergreen” educational concepts (such as laboratory interpretation and physical examination) that are considered foundational to the practice of rheumatology. Through four previous editions, Rheumatology Secrets has provided medical trainees and practicing rheumatologists with tools to improve their understanding of autoimmune diseases and enhance the care of patients with rheumatic disease. As with the fourth edition, this book includes access to over 150 online board-review questions. These questions are intended to solidify concepts covered in each chapter rather than serve as a comprehensive repository of board-style questions. In my own training (which continues to this day), the previous editions of Rheumatology Secrets were enjoyable to read and provided quick insights during a busy clinic.
